Solidarity Art for the future of Masai, January 21
The Sibarist is organizing, together with ADCAM, an event in Madrid in which a Charity Art Auction will be held in favor of the Masai Community.
On January 21, the Association for Development, Alternative Trade and Microcredit (ADCAM) will present its sustainable development initiatives in the Masai community of Kenya in Madrid. The event will feature the special collaboration of Princess Sophie von Hanau, a renowned photographer who has documented Masai life and culture through her lens.
During the event, a charity art auction will be held with works created for the occasion by various artists who have joined together for this good cause, including some emerging artists, including Sylvia Girón, Eva Ertl and Jesús Herrero, and the proceeds from which will go to the Mara Vision School educational project.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Maasai culture and the educational and social vision that ADCAM has been promoting in this community for 20 years, from its founders, Rosa Escandell and William Kikanae Ole Pere, leader of the Maasai community. They will also directly contribute to the advancement of the educational project, which provides schooling to more than 250 Maasai children; to the consolidation of a cooperative of more than 2,500 women artisans, which preserves their cultural heritage while promoting their economic independence; and to the strengthening of the Sawa Mara Eco Lodge, an ecological accommodation managed by the Maasai community in the Maasai Mara, an example of sustainable tourism that combines authenticity, respect for nature and hospitality.
Princess Sophie von Hanau will be joining us, bringing her artistic and in-depth insight into Maasai life. Born into an Austro-German family, Von Hanau is an established artist with numerous solo exhibitions worldwide. Her work has been exhibited at contemporary art fairs such as SCOPE Miami Beach, Photo Vienna and Art New York. Her artistic work focuses on endangered cultures and traditions. She has collaborated with UNICEF, photographing in South Sudan to document the effects of the civil war on its population. Her travels have also taken her to Tanzania where her foundation funds ongoing projects. Sophie Von Hanau will donate an exclusive, limited edition work to ADCAM, which will be exhibited during the event and the sale of which will be donated to the organization.
At the end of the event, the number of children that ADCAM will provide schooling to with the money raised will be announced. It will be a unique opportunity to enjoy art and contribute to a transformative cause.
The event will be held in collaboration with The Sibarist in one of its spaces (tr31ntayuno) and the support of its art platform ART U READY.

About the auction artists
Sylvia Girón
Sylvia Girón has studied interior design at the IADE School and has been trained in art over the years at institutions such as the Arauco Foundation, the Artium Peña Academy and the M-Arte Creative School. Although her career developed in the business field as co-founder of The Sibarist Intentional Living, art has always been her true passion. Inspired by artists such as Sorolla, Picasso and Carmen Laffón, her work moves from hyperrealistic portraiture and still life to experimental abstraction, currently exploring collage as a form of visual narrative loaded with meaning. She has participated in collective exhibitions, highlighting the Saoba Gallery in Madrid, and seeks to transmit beauty and truth as a path to knowledge.
Eva Ertl
Innovation and tradition. A multidisciplinary artist trained at the “Academy of Art University” in San Francisco. Here her passion for design and digital art begins, influenced by the Silicon Valley environment. She returns to Spain after years in the United States exploring disciplines such as sculpture, ceramics, engraving and metals. Her work is an experimental laboratory where traditional crafts dialogue with digital technologies, where the visual expands the limits that words sometimes have. These artistic and creative concerns are reflected in her business projects. Co-founder of the men’s tailoring shop Ertl & Cohn and the concept store “El Paracaidista”, a pioneering space that in 2015 integrated the physical and virtual experience in an innovative way. She defines her creative world as a “catch-all” box where “a little bit of everything is spun and assembled.”
Her motto: “I listen and forget. I see and remember. I do and understand” guides a work without borders, exhibited in Prague, San Francisco and Spain, always in constant evolution and experimentation.
Jesús Herrero
Jesús Herrero Jiménez is an artist and teacher with more than 30 years of experience in the visual arts. Graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, he specializes in engraving, combining traditional techniques with contemporary approaches. He is the founder of Arteria Gráfica, a workshop in Madrid dedicated to printing, the edition of graphic works and artistic training in silkscreen and engraving.
Throughout his career, he has taught at institutions such as the European Institute of Design and Casa Encendida. His work has been exhibited in prestigious international galleries and fairs in cities such as Paris, Quito and New York. Jesús has also created and directed innovative projects such as MASQUELIBROS and has held artistic residencies in places such as Sardinia and Ohio. His work continues to explore the intersection between the artisanal and the experimental, challenging the boundaries of graphic art. Jesús manages to balance the artisanal and the experimental, creating pieces that dialogue between the traditional and the contemporary. His workshop is a living space where materials, ideas and processes intertwine to give shape to an art that transcends borders.
