The Sibarist

A lovingly restored 1930’s house in inland Cantabria

Description

This property, built in 1931, has undergone a careful renovation that has resulted in a minimalist-inspired interior design, well designed from its layout to the materials chosen, to create a haven of peace and tranquillity in the interior of Cantabria.

The house is distributed over three floors and has a meadow area delimited by Corten steel guides that shape the pebbled driveway. The original and restored beams of the original construction are combined with current beams and structures that coexist in harmony. All the interior finishes, as well as the wardrobe solutions and bathroom fittings, have been completely updated to provide the best quality and comfort.

Layout:

The split-level lounges with double height and views of the indoor swimming pool are one of the most carefully considered themes of the interior design and have become one of the most emblematic elements of the house.

They are also very spacious and, although adjoining, are very independent of each other.

The house conserves the masonry of the door and window casings, walls and floors and has a surface area of 420 square metres, of which 390 are usable and has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a garage and storage room, as well as balconies, terrace and garden. Among the services, we can highlight the indoor covered swimming pool, underfloor heating, aerothermal system, thermal and acoustic insulation, fireplace, security door and integral security system.

Silió is a town in the municipality of Molledo (Cantabria, Spain). The town is located 2.5 kilometres from the municipal capital, Molledo (in the upper basin of the Besaya River). Silió has an altitude of 265 metres, its population in 2009 was 584 inhabitants, which makes it the most populated in the valley, despite being far from the main roads. It is divided between Silió (518 inhabitants) and the neighbourhood of Santa Marina (66 inhabitants). The distance to the city of Santander is 55 km, about 35 minutes, and from Madrid it is 400 km, a journey that takes just under 3.5 hours by normal driving. Its architecture includes the Romanesque church of San Facundo and San Primitivo, declared a National Monument on 20th July 1896, Historic-Artistic Monument 1, and on 23rd April 1970 a Site of Cultural Interest with the category of Monument. Its civil architecture is also of interest, including the 17th century Tagle house and the 18th century Obregón house and tower. It is also the gateway to Monte Canales. In the country quarter we find what is perhaps the most striking coat of arms of the village with the following inscription: ‘De testigos falsos libranos dómine… siendo juez el señor Don Diego Llata’.

The orientation of the property is to the midday-southwest, the whole of the reception area is in this orientation, which gives it plenty of light and unbeatable habitability conditions. The indoor heated swimming pool is also located in this orientation which guarantees unbeatable temperature and ventilation conditions when all the windows and sliding doors are opened to practically integrate into the garden.

It is a unique property as its location makes it have something magical, apart from its rehabilitation has been taken care of to the maximum by its owners and understood perfectly by its builder which undoubtedly made, to have this splendid result.

The house is in perfect condition, and available for use.
