The landscape of Gondomar through traditional Galician architecture

Description

Just ten minutes from Playa América, this property offers a way of living deeply connected to the landscape and to Galicia’s traditional architecture.

Built in 1898 as the residence of the parish priest of Oliveira, the house has survived to the present day with an uncommon authenticity, enhanced by a respectful renovation that has preserved its original character while incorporating modern comfort.

Set on an estate of more than 10,000 m², among stone walls, established vegetation, and open views over the valley and the Sierra de la Groba, the ensemble is arranged with extraordinary naturalness. It includes the main house, an independent chapel, two traditional hórreos, a wine cellar, an alpendre, a fountain, a stone inner courtyard, and an outdoor swimming pool, creating an atmosphere of calm, privacy, and connection with nature.

A unique, understated home with presence, preserving the essence of Galician vernacular architecture in a setting of remarkable natural beauty.

Layout:

The house is arranged over two floors, with a layout designed to organise the living and sleeping areas in a comfortable and fluid way.

Access to the house is through the inner courtyard, which acts as both an entrance area and a connecting hub between the different rooms.

The main floor houses the communal areas. The entrance hall leads into a spacious and functional kitchen-dining room, naturally connected to the rest of the house. Next are the main living room, centred around a wood-burning fireplace, and the separate dining room, completing this floor with a sequence of spaces designed both for everyday living and for gatherings or longer stays. This level also includes a guest cloakroom.

From the kitchen, there is direct access to the former wine cellar, now converted into a barbecue area and covered outdoor dining space, expanding the possibilities for use and connection with the outdoors.

The first floor is dedicated to the sleeping area. The principal bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, while the other three bedrooms share a full bathroom.

What makes this property truly special is the coherence with which architecture, landscape, and memory still come together as a whole. Built in 1898 as the residence of the parish priest of Oliveira, it retains a rare authenticity, with exposed stone walls, traditional carpentry, an inner courtyard, and a very natural relationship between the different volumes of the estate. The main house, chapel, hórreos, wine cellar, alpendre, and swimming pool are integrated with understated elegance into an estate of more than 10,000 m², set among stone walls, meadows, and mature trees. A property with character, serene and deeply connected to its setting.

The property is in a good state of preservation, retaining the defining elements of traditional Galician architecture, such as its stone construction and original configuration. These features enhance both its heritage value and its appeal.

Its integration into the surrounding landscape, together with the quality of the outdoor space, enhances its potential for both residential and tourism use, increasing its profitability. The combination of architectural authenticity and comfortable living conditions positions it as an asset with long-term appeal.
