Charming rural house in Alentejo

Description

This holiday home in Melides, in the province of Comporta (Portugal) is located in a typical rural Alentejo neighbourhood called Vale da Cobra, meaning valley of the snakes, named after the small winding road that runs through a gently undulating landscape.

Arriving at this family-run rural retreat, the visitor is invaded by a serene calm largely provided by the surrounding nature and the well-integrated architecture. The interiors feature exposed wooden beams with a gabled roof, lime mortar walls, floors finished in micro-cement, furniture in sinuous, organic shapes and made from natural materials, fibres, cottons and linens, all designed to achieve relaxation in the midst of nature.

The villa has a total living area of 300 m2 offering a capacity for 12 guests, 6 adults and 6 children, distributed over 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room and swimming pool. A large entrance hall leads to the open plan kitchen and dining room with integrated lounge on the same area. A staircase leads to a loft with TV and sitting area overlooking the living-dining room.

The house follows the canons of the vernacular architecture of the Alentejo area and has three double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and queen-size beds and another large room with a children’s area, a children’s bathroom (with bathtub and shower) and 2 children’s rooms with bunk beds.

Almost all the rooms in this house have their own terrace or outdoor area, with views of the swimming pool or the typical Alentejo landscape populated by cork oaks and pines, among other well-preserved native species. In addition to all the terraces surrounding the house, there is a large roof terrace, perfect for yoga or an aperitif on a summer evening before lighting up the barbecue.

The swimming pool is a great size, measuring 17 m in length, and is heated, has a seating area and a brand new pool bar.
This property is also suitable for winter stays, as it has underfloor heating throughout the house and a fireplace to provide a cosy atmosphere.

In terms of location, it is situated between Melides and Carvalhal, 10 minutes drive from the nearest beaches of Aberta Nova and Galé. Melides can be reached in 10 minutes, Carvalhal in 15 minutes, Comporta in 25 minutes and Lisbon in 1h25 minutes by car. There is a wide variety of beaches to choose from, some with luxury beachfront restaurants, others with trendy bars where you can enjoy a cocktail.

Amenities include towels and sheets, TV, kitchen, washing machine, tumble dryer, indoor fireplace, shampoo, high chair, coffee machine, kettle, dishwasher, toilet paper and soap, heating, wireless internet, swimming pool, free parking on the premises, terrace, clothes hangers, kitchen utensils, freezer and dining table. In the garden there is a large wooden terrace for Yoga. Pets are not allowed.
