Description

This detached cottage surrounded by beaches, rice fields and secluded villages is located in the small parish of Carvalhal, Grândola, a Portuguese municipality in the Setúbal district of the Alentejo region. Its location is privileged as it is in the central part of the Atlantic coast, facing the sea and at the foot of the rice fields, on the spectacular coast of Portugal, specifically in the nature reserve of the Sado Estuary, in Comporta. Its architecture is based on the typical fishermen’s buildings of the area, with a predominant use of wood and lime facades and the use of natural materials and fibres. It has a surface area of 570 m2 including the terrace and porch areas. The two-storey house, which has five bedrooms and six bathrooms and can accommodate 12 people, also has a living room with fireplace, library and sitting area, dining room, kitchen and garage. The area of the finca extends over 2,000 m2 and includes an infinity pool with adjoining cabana, whose boomerang shape was made to respect the existing pine trees. Some of the rooms have queen-size beds, others are twin and all have en suite bathrooms.

The interior has been designed to make the most of the light, so the house has large windows that bring the landscape inside. Floors and walls are covered in micro-cement, doors and windows are made of wood and great care has been taken with insulation based on energy sustainability. The exterior lighting is automated and illuminates the garden, house, swimming pool and paths. The latter is home to up to 10 different types of lavender and up to 50 local species as well as fourteen centenary olive trees surrounded by the white sand characteristic of the Alentejo. It enjoys an ideal location at the foot of the rice fields, with beaches and restaurants just a 5-minute walk from Carvalhal beach, 10 minutes from Pego beach and less than 1 hour from Lisbon international airport. Services included are daily cleaning, bed linen and towels, barbecue, ceiling fans, air conditioning, underfloor heating, fireplace with firewood available, high speed Wi-Fi, sound and alarm system, professional kitchen, laundry, terrace and solarium.Optionally, the following services are available: personal cook, yoga and pilates classes, golf, massage, horse riding, croquet, dolphin and bird watching, picnics, wine tasting, surfing, bike rides, Jeep tours and visits to the port of palafitos and Roman ruins.
