This 350 m² country house is located in the heart of the Saja-Nansa region, in the charming village of Cos (Cantabria).
It is part of a row of traditional houses known as ‘casas llanas’ or ‘corraladas barrocas’, built in ashlar stone and masonry, with large porches and interior courtyards that reflect the typical architecture of the area.
This house, built in 1900, has been carefully restored to become an accommodation that combines rustic charm with modern comforts.
The restoration has been promoted by Adriana Andecochea, a journalist specialising in travel and hotels, together with her husband Germán and their family, who have contributed their aesthetic sensibility and passion for details to turn it into a cosy and unique space.
Their love for beautiful things and their characteristic taste have been the authors of this refurbishment.
The distribution of the house is articulated on three floors and includes five carefully decorated bedrooms, three complete bathrooms with high quality finishes, three living rooms, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, an outdoor porch, an indoor porch with solarium and a beautiful walled courtyard crowned by a cypress tree. The house can accommodate up to ten people and offers a warm and comfortable décor.
The interior design, inspired by the aesthetics of residences in the south of France, uses a colour palette chosen with a taste for textile prints and highlights unique details such as the fireplace covered with handmade tiles, custom-designed in L’Empordà as a tribute to one of the owners’ favourite buildings, “El Capricho de Gaudí”, in Comillas.
The furniture has been selected from French antique shops and markets and combines with some of the house’s original Castilian furniture which has been tastefully restored and integrated.
The property is equipped with wifi, heating, air conditioning and kitchen available for guest use.
The minimum stay is three nights.
This villa allows pets and is suitable for families with children. Its location offers a privileged natural environment, just 800 metres from the Bo. Vernejo, a route of more than seven kilometres along the banks of the river Saja, ideal for walking, jogging or cycling while enjoying the scenery of the Saja-Nansa Valley. Nearby there is also a hiking trail adapted for all ages, allowing you to explore the area in a safe and accessible way.
In addition, just 30 kilometres away, visitors can enjoy the Saja-Besaya Nature Reserve, a protected area that invites direct contact with nature. The gastronomic offer in the surrounding area is wide and varied, with numerous restaurants in nearby towns such as Ruente and Cabezón de la Sal, where it is possible to enjoy everything from traditional cuisine to more sophisticated or family options.
The town is well communicated: less than four hours by car from Madrid, half an hour from Santander airport and about twenty minutes from Torrelavega train station.
