This is how the opening of “Kinesis” by ELIURPI went

The opening took place on February 26th, and the exhibition can be visited until March 7th in one of the event spaces within our real estate portfolio. “Kinesis” is an exhibition in which ELIURPI establishes a dialogue between textile sculpture and photography, exploring the relationship between matter, movement, and transformation.

ART U READY celebrates its tenth edition coinciding with ARCO week. The artistic duo ELIURPI, formed by Elisabet Urpí and Nacho Umpiérrez, have returned to Madrid with a new exhibition. Inspired by the philosophical concept of kinesis, the exhibition reflects on movement as an inherent quality of matter and the continuous evolution of being.

“Kinesis” proposes a dialogue between two artistic disciplines: textile sculpture and photography. Through both practices, ELIURPI explores the relationship between matter, movement, and transformation, creating a space where art, technique, and thought converge.

“Everything that exists as a living being endowed with movement, κίνησις appears as an inherent part of matter, and the term takes on the double meaning of movement and change. Rest and change are the major genres, the source of movement is properly the soul. The soul as the source of movement.”

The pieces presented reflect on change as the essence of matter, establishing a visual narrative where shapes, textures, and light construct a poetic and contemporary language. ELIURPI’s work continues to explore the relationship between tradition and experimentation, transferring artisanal techniques to a current artistic context.

ELIURPI’s art stands out for its quest, through craftsmanship and design, to create with honesty and provide “spaces” of beauty.

The surprise of the evening was an incredible performance directed by Macarena Girón with dancer Inés Valderas, conceived as a living extension of the conceptual universe of Kinesis. Far from standing in front of the work, the piece temporarily transformed the exhibition space into a dynamic system, activating the installation from within. The body moved through the textile sculptures not as a spectator or an external element, but as a catalyst of energy. The premise was clear: movement does not observe the work, it activates it.

Through movement, breathing, and progressive contact with the pieces, the performer established a physical dialogue with the structures of ELIURPI, generating rotation, swaying, and light responses. The fiber ceased to be a suspended object and became a living system; the light ceased to illuminate and began to pulsate. The air itself seemed to acquire density, becoming matter in motion.

The intervention evolved from an almost imperceptible infiltration among the audience to total integration within the installation, where the body ended up merging with the textile, becoming another sculpture and blurring the boundaries between skin and matter. During those minutes, the gallery ceased to be a simple container and became an active organism, reaffirming the essence of Kinesis: movement as a vital and transformative principle.

With this opening, we welcomed our new event space, tercer 3spacio, a container of stories, a place where authenticity flows and each experience finds its own rhythm.
