A haven of peace in this villa in Saint Rémy de Provence
Description
The villa is located one and a half kilometres from Saint Rémy de Provence, a beautiful town in the arrondissement of Arles, in the department of Bouches du Rhône, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France.
Saint Rémy, together with Avignon and Arles, forms the trio of the most outstanding places to visit in Provence, known for its beautiful landscapes which attracted the painters of the 19th century, such as Van Gogh who painted ‘The Starry Night’ there.
It has a surface area of 400 m2 distributed on one level, with a garden of 10,000 m2, which constitutes a green and peaceful environment. The estate has several areas to enjoy moments of relaxation, such as a glazed kiosk equipped for dining, a fountain and two areas to enjoy outdoors, one for social gatherings and a dining room, both under the shade of pergolas and with views of the swimming pool. The pool measures 12 by 6 metres, is protected by infrared bollards to prevent falls and the water is treated with salt.
This tourist villa is distributed over three floors and has 7 bedrooms and a living room for up to 9 people.
On the ground floor is the kitchen with direct access to the garden and designed with a central island module. It is equipped with Lacanche hobs, an oven, several food processors and an American-style fridge. It connects directly to the dining room through an open space, with beige stuccoed walls and decorated in the same chromatic range as the kitchen.
The spacious living room has a double height and maintains the original wooden trusses and beams with a whitewashed finish. It has an open fireplace, television and comfortable sofas and opens onto the garden through a large sliding door that leads to the swimming pool.
The sleeping area on this floor consists of two bedrooms, one with a 90 cm bed and en-suite bathroom with access to a small private terrace, and the other with a 180 cm bed, bathroom with shower and en-suite toilet. This area also has a laundry room.
The first floor is equipped with: a double bedroom with 160 cm bed, dressing room and en-suite bathroom with shower, all with views of the garden and access to the swimming pool; and, a bedroom with 160 cm bed, en-suite bathroom with shower.
In the attic, there is a bedroom with a 180 cm bed, en-suite bathroom with Italian shower, double washbasin and toilet.
The decoration combines classic style pieces with contemporary design, resulting in an elegant atmosphere with rustic touches.
Amenities include air-conditioning in all rooms and the availability of quality white cotton linen and household linen.
The garden has an area of 10,000 m2 with shrubs and cypresses. The large outdoor area has, in addition to the private swimming pool, several independent areas surrounding the house: sunbathing area with deckchairs, cushions and parasols; lounge area, with comfortable armchairs and side tables in the shade of a wisteria pergola, ideal for an informal outdoor meal; dining area with stone table and iron chairs; and a glassed-in pavilion with dining area.
Near Saint Rémy are the hills of Les Alpilles, a Regional Natural Park, the archaeological ruins of Glanum, and the citadel of Les Baux-de-Provence, famous for the discovery of bauxite and listed as one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’.
