The house is located in the south-facing part of Hinojedo, a neighbourhood very close to Suances but much quieter and has incredible views over the northern slopes of the Saja Valley. It is very well communicated, and it is only 10 minutes by car from the beach of Suances.Hinojedo is a locality of the municipality of Suances (Cantabria, Spain). The toponym comes from the early medieval term Fenolietu, which first gives Finojedo and which appears in documents as early as the 10th century, and which in turn comes from Foeniculum vulgare (fennel), due to the abundance of this species in the area. It is located to the south of the municipality, next to the peak of Castíu or La Masera (156 m), bordering the village of Viveda, which belongs to the municipality of Santillana del Mar; Puente Avíos, Ongayo and Cortiguera in the municipality of Suances, and finally, bordering the Saja-Besaya estuary with Requejada (Polanco) and Barreda (Torrelavega). This estuary, officially called San Martín de la Arena, has several river islands. The village is located at a distance of 4 kilometres from Suances, about 30 from Santander and 6 from Torrelavega. It sits at an average altitude of 20 metres above sea level and has 1945 inhabitants.
The orientation of the house is exposed to all the orientations according to the different parts of the house, the most characteristic being that of midday, which makes it a very luminous and bright house in its interiors. In addition, it also has a northeast and west orientation, being these two the warmest and most sought after in Santander, both for the period of light exposure and its intensity according to the seasons of the year.
