Description
First collection of holiday rental architecture in Europe
Architectural experiences where you’ll feel the pleasure of being disconnected, and in harmony with nature…
The latest project to land with Solo Houses.
Solo Office KGDVS has been constructed on a natural plateau, its aim to enjoy the surrounding 360-degree beauty.
Created with no limits between interiors and exteriors, its façade opens, allowing you to bring the outdoors indoors, making dreams under the stars possible.
With the landscape at its centre, we find a natural pool resembling a lake within the grounds.
Invisible arquitecture disappears amongst the woodland, breaking all the norms.
Interesting fact: when the architects visited the grounds, a beehive in the middle meant they had to go around it to see the plot. Their experience lead them to create a circular house.
Arquitects: OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen
Belgium
Bedrooms: 2/3
No. of guests: 6
Each unit in the house is completely independent and accessible through its own patio/porch.
The interior is functional, simple but comfortable with little decoration so as not to detract from the desired experience. Magnificent beds guarantee quality rest.
Main suite: occupies an entire unit. Complete with double bed, living room, bathroom with a shower, and a bath strategically placed to enjoy the spectacular views, once the curved walls have been removed so as to create 100% immersion in the outdoors.
Double suite:in another unit we find a space with two bedrooms with double beds, connected by original metal doors, with a shared bathroom and lounge. Ideal for families.
In another unit we have the lounge with chimney, connected to the kitchen-dining room. Each space has access directly from the patio or porch.
Swimming pool with solarium, resembling a natural lake. Complete with an outdoors toilet.
SOLO HOUSES
Solo Houses is found within 100 hectares of natural landscape in the region of Matarraña, Teruel, considered the Tuscany of Spain, where one feels truly alone and isolated from the wider world.
Its promoters, gallery owners Christian Bourdais y Eva Albarrán, carefully searched for grounds free of eyesoars, and a landscape that was untouched by man, until they found this perfect location.
The countryside setting inspired them to create this collection of architecture, 15 projects and 15 21st-century experiences that they hope will stand the test of time.
This is a design that combines and fuses with nature, its spaces constantly blurring boundaries between the indoors and outdoors in order to create the ideal refuge for those seeking to escape and disconnect.
The architects chosen to take on this ambitious project are of the world’s most promising, potential future Pritzker prize-winners (an award considered ‘the nobel of architecture’).
They work with one goal in mind: to question each and every convention associated with second homes.
What should a weekend house be like today? We want to reinvent the concept from a contemporary standpoint, respecting the architects’ creativity, which has been so reduced by constructors, says Bourdais.
At the moment we can enjoy Solo Pezo and Solo Office KGDVS. It’s forseen that the project, including a hotel of 35 bedooms, will be completed by 2024.
THE AREA
Solo Houses is found on 100 hectares of farmland, where only the sounds of nature can be heard, spectacular dawns and dusks enjoyed, and where one will get lost in nature, with not a soul to be seen for miles.
Guests will enjoy walks among olive groves and almond trees and breathe in the aromas of the Mediterrean forest, listen to the sound of grasshoppers by day, and crickets by night…
A spot of luxury in the middle of nowhere, worth every bit of the journey to this secluded place. El Viajero (The Traveller). El País. 2018
And for those wanting to explore the area, we recommend Cretas, a charming nearby medieval town with just 600 inhabitants, a walk in Calaceite, or a dip in the natural swimming pools in the region of Matarraña considered the Tuscany of Spain.
A wide range of cultural routes are available, from a trek that takes you to medieval Iberian tumbs, not to forget the region’s gastronomy, to be enjoyed in the many magnificent restaurants that can be found close to the estate.
An experience where the past remains in tact, and the future is the present.
A destination to enjoy weekend breaks, spend the summer holidays, get some relaxation and respite from the city, and host special events.
