Contemporary Cantabrian essence with valley views in Mazcuerras
Description
In the heart of Mazcuerras, this newly built house rises on a gentle vantage point overlooking the valley landscape.
A contemporary work that calmly reinterprets Cantabrian architecture, combining clean lines, noble materials, and a constant connection with nature.
This home invites a slower way of living: every room breathes serenity, bathed in natural light that enhances the details of an interior design conceived down to the last millimetre. The textures of stone and wood engage in dialogue with the surroundings, while technology is discreetly integrated to offer comfort and efficiency without disturbing the visual harmony.
From its terrace and large windows, the green valley landscape becomes an essential part of everyday life. A home for those seeking authenticity, design, and a balance between tradition and contemporaneity.
The house stands on a 4,327 m² plot, commanding the valley from an elevated position that invites contemplation of the surrounding landscape. With 474 m² built across two floors and a lower level, this property combines contemporary architecture, functionality, and a constant connection with nature.
Access to the estate is through an automated designer gate, anticipating the understated elegance of the whole. The main entrance, framed by an armoured pivot door, sets the tone for the interior: security, character, and attention to detail.
A welcoming porch leads into the grand living room with high ceilings, centred around a fireplace and opening onto the main porch and garden. The kitchen, by Santos and equipped with Siemens appliances, is arranged around a central island and has direct access to the pantry and laundry room, blending aesthetics and functionality. This same floor also includes a guest bathroom and three en-suite bedrooms, each with a dressing room and direct access to the outdoors.
On the upper floor, an open library acts as a distribution area and leads to another bedroom with a balcony overlooking the landscape, framing nature as part of everyday life.
The lower level surprises with its industrial-inspired aesthetic: a large wine cellar with cinema room, ping-pong area, drinks bar with fridge and dishwasher, guest bathroom, and technical room.
A warm, versatile space full of character, designed to be enjoyed all year round. Outside, the landscaped garden is arranged around the main porch, where a swimming pool integrates naturally as an extension of the living room.
The property is completed by an independent garage for two vehicles, equipped with an electric charger and storage room, as well as paved access, ambient lighting, and automatic irrigation connected to AEMET.

Located in the centre of Mazcuerras, one of the most beautiful villages in Cantabria and declared a Pueblo Bonito in 2008, La Cuesta de la Fuente enjoys a privileged setting: elevated, sunny, and with open views. Beside the square and the traditional bowling alley, it offers the chance to experience the essence of village life from the privacy and comfort of a modern home surrounded by nature.
Mazcuerras belongs to Cantabria’s western coast, just 45 kilometres from Santander. Unlike the eastern part of the region, western Cantabria has remained protected from mass development due to the late completion of the Cantabrian Motorway, finished in the 21st century. As a result, there are no large-scale urban developments, making this village an exclusive residential area, with grand traditional houses, very close to the beaches, Oyambre Natural Park, Saja-Besaya Park, and Monte Corona, with access to services just a few kilometres away.
Nearby are the Real Club de Golf de Pedreña, 40 km away; the Real Club de Golf de Oyambre, one of the oldest in Spain; and Santa Marina Golf Club, designed by Severiano Ballesteros. Santander Airport is also 30–40 km away, and Marqués de Valdecilla Hospital is just 30 minutes away.
Historically, Mazcuerras was the ancient Malacoria on the route of the Foramontanos, the early settlers of Castile during the Reconquista. It was named Village of Cantabria in 2008 for its historical, cultural, and environmental values. Due to its architectural heritage, it is known as “the village of grand houses”, and because of its connection to literature, it is also known as “Luzmela”, as it was the setting for one of the most popular novels by the writer Concha Espina, La niña de Luzmela, who lived in the village.
Mazcuerras is also known as “the village of flowers”, thanks to its long-standing tradition of cultivating flowers, plants, and trees that adorn its public spaces and the façades of its buildings. Viveros Escalante, with more than a century of history and 20 hectares spread throughout the village, is closely linked to the design of its spectacular gardens.
A unique property in Cantabria’s high-end market. Its privileged location, carefully considered architecture, and combination of technology, sustainability, and timeless design ensure value stability and excellent potential for resale or luxury rental. A secure real estate asset in the green heart of Cantabria.
