It is located in what is known as the “Empordanet”, located in Serra de Daro, in the small quiet and charming village of Sant Iscle, d’Empordà, (historical region of Catalonia). Settled on the top of a hill. It has a privileged location, as it is only a few kilometres away from several interesting towns, and from the Costa Brava. Close to La Bisbal, capital of the Baix Empordà… artistic-creative municipality. A town traditionally welcoming and inspiring ceramists, new trends and innovative tendencies in craftsmanship. 11 km from Ampurias and L’Escala…35 km from Gerona….. It is a land of wines. There are 423 winegrowers… white and red wines, the DO Empordà wines…

The house is semi-detached with three façades… with the garden facing south, sunny during most of the day and year and with beautiful views of the surroundings, the countryside where fruit trees compete with green and yellow crops, buildings devoted to aesthetics and in the background, the Montgri, mountains that sometimes act as a natural boundary between the upper and lower Empordà, where the Bisba and the Montgrí castle can be seen.

This house does not have the characteristics of a noble house, it is a village house, probably the result of joining a barn with the stables and the upper floor.
Nowadays, an Empordà village house converted into an author’s house. Inherited and rebuilt. It is the guest house of a renowned interior designer.
It preserves the stone façades with Gothic windows and the old orchards from where you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Pyrenees in the background.
in the background.
It has a cosy and well-tended garden with a pond or pool for a dip in summer. The porch and the terraces that run along the façade house a small fountain, a sitting and dining area, as well as the famous fig tree that gives its name to the house. Lavender flowerbeds, flowering agapanthus and cypress trees create a setting where you can enjoy a privileged and pleasant environment. An ideal place to let yourself be carried away…A magical place…

La Higuera was remade from two old houses in the village. The last restoration was in 2018. The interior design and layout are excellent and the condition is impeccable. Rebuilt with the mastery of one of the best interior designers of today.

At a certain point, the Empordà began to emerge from its isolation thanks to the new motorways. At that time, old houses came up for sale and began to appreciate in value, and the people of Barcelona fled the coast in the face of the tourist invasion. Nowadays they are considered jewels that show the architectural culture of this wonderful area of Spain, where houses with history and humble village houses with haystacks coexist, reconverted into houses of great value, the object of desire of… foreigners and foreigners.
The Empordanet is one of the most sought-after areas of the region, which adds value to the estate.
